Our Process and What We Can Do for You!

Many of our clients want to improve the indoor air quality of their home and would like to know more about the process and benefits of duct cleaning. To that end I hired a professional photographer to photo document our process and capture the results of our duct cleaning process. I think you will find the results impressive!

The first step in our process is to lay sheets down and if we are not on protective sheets we will be wearing boot covers to protect your floors. After the sheets are laid we will run a 12" diameter, non-marking hose from our Duct Cleaning Unit to the ductwork in your furnace room. We will attach the non-mark hose to both the supply and return air ductwork. Since the furnace separates the supply and return air duct work we perform our complete duct cleaning process on the supply and return air portions in series. This ensures that once our process is complete all the ductwork in your home has been cleaned. In image 1 on the right you see our non-mark hose attached to the return air duct. After our non-mark hose is attached we start our Duct Cleaning Unit and then block all the registers attach to the ductwork. As you can see in image 2 this places the entire line of ductwork under a significant vacuum. Dust and debris begin to be removed from your homes duct work and are trapped in the filtering compartments of our Duct Cleaning Unit outside of your home (image 3). In image 8 you can see the tissue paper was sucked all the way through the ductwork and trapped by the large, debris grate of the Duct Cleaning Unit.

Once the entire supply and return air portions are placed under a vacuum we begin to work each individual supply and return air run one at a time. For each air run we spray the register with high-pressure, compressed air to remove all the dust and debris (image 4). Then we run a high-pressure, compressed air whip down the run until the whip reached the main ductwork (image 5). The whip has three smaller, hollow lines that high-pressure, compressed air causes to violently thrash around. This serves to knock off dust and debris that may be stuck and once loose the dust and debris are sucked out of you home to be trapped within the filtering compartments of our Duct Cleaning Unit. Once this step in complete we reseal the register to maintain a strong vacuum and repeat the process for each register and duct work run until all the runs are clean.

After all the runs are clean we still need to clean out the main supply or return air ductwork. We use a similar process to clean out the main ductwork line as we use on each individual run. The only real difference is that since the main ductwork is larger we use a larger high-pressure air whips to loosen dust and debris. Image 6 shows the larger high-pressure whip being used on the supply air side of a ductwork system. The final step before the process is repeated on the other portion of the ductwork is optional. If you choose we will spray a vaporized sanitizer down each run (image 7).

Once one side of your ductwork system is completed the entire process is repeated. The order is not important, but what is important is that unlike many others once our process is complete your home's entire ductwork system will have been placed under a vacuum and cleaned.

Now for the impressive results! The Duct Cleaning Unit is cleaned after every job and the results shown here are common. The fabric air filters shown inflated in image 3 are 3.5' tall and 1.5' in diameter. You can see these nine air filters again at the end of the cleaning process in images 8 and 9 completely covered in dust. These nine filters contain a surface area of over 150 square feet. That's a lot of dust! Further the floor of the Duct Cleaning Unit's filtering compartment is covered in more dust with larger debris accumulating in the corners. Just compare images 8 and 10 after a broom was used to clear some of the floor's surface. Again, that's a lot of dust!

Now, that we have shown you what our Duct Cleaning Unit traps lets take a look at some before and after images. Images 12 and 13 show the same section of a ductwork. Points of comparison can be made based upon the metal tabs and writing that is barely legible in the back of the ductwork. Again, I think you will find the results of our Duct Cleaning Process impressive. Images 14 and 15 show the results of our process, and yes, the air filters are different, that is because we always replace your home's air filter before the job is considered complete.

Our final step is cleanup. We remove our non-mark hoses, sheets, and other tools from your home and since we always wear boot covers you wont have any stains or marks to remember us by just cleaner air!

A couple of things to remember. Our process places your home's ENTIRE duct work system under a vacuum, not just portions a few feet in from each register and our process filters and traps the dust and debris outside of your home.

Home Duct Cleaning Pricing

Our Basic Duct Cleaning Package includes placing your entire home's ductwork under a vacuum, cleaning the ductwork mains, and cleaning up to 15 supply and return air runs. This is an excellent option and your home's ductwork will be much cleaner than before we arrived.

If you have a large home you may have more than 15 supply and return air runs. An easy way to tell if this is the case for your home simply walk around and count the number of registers. In some cases homes are large enough to require more than one furnace and this means that the entire process must be completed multiple times. If this is the case for your home or if you are interested in duct cleaning for a commercial property please give us a call to obtain specific pricing and information.

Vaporized Sanitizer is for going the extra mile during the duct cleaning process. If you choose this option, after we have cleaned your home's ductwork we will spray a vaporized sanitizer down each supply and return air run while the ductwork is still under a vacuum. This ensures that the sanitizer is pulled through the entire system killing bateria and mold spores.
